Hoover® Platinum Collection™ Sets Higher Standard of Clean
Advanced engineering provides best-in-class cleaning performance
Cleveland, Ohio (October 2008) – “Bringing home baby” clean. “Company is about to arrive” clean.
“Mother-in-law” clean. “Deep down spring cleaning” clean. No matter how you describe the deepest
clean a home can be that standard is now higher.
Hoover®, America’s first name in floor care, offers four products from its new Platinum Collection™ to
consumers who want the satisfaction of knowing they are cleaning completely, not just completing the
cleaning task. Designed to meet the needs of America’s most thorough cleaners, Hoover® Platinum
Collection™ products offer best-in-class cleaning performance, convenient features to accelerate the
process, and carefully engineered ergonomic design that provides a virtually effortless experience.
“Hoover’s reputation for innovation is taken to a new level with the introduction of the Platinum Collection,”
said Carolyn Resar, Vice President of Marketing for TTI Floor Care North America, Hoover’s parent
company. “Hoover engineers have combined our proven WindTunnel™ technology with confirmed filtration
technologies and new power technologies to develop products with unsurpassed cleaning performance.
We are raising the bar and setting a new standard of clean for America’s homes.”
Platinum Collection owners will enjoy the benefits of Hoover® Platinum Collection™ Member Services.
A dedicated customer service agent will be available on the exclusive member services telephone line
(1-877-MYPLTNM, 8 am – 5 pm EST M-F) to answer any questions on the Platinum products with minimal,
if any, wait times. All calls will be answered at the company’s Glenwillow, Ohio, headquarters. Hoover
stores also will be Platinum-certified for exceptional service, offering customers a Platinum loaner vacuum
during the repair period.
The initial Platinum Collection products will be:
Platinum Collection™ Cordless Hand Vacuum & Stick Vacuum –
part of the LiNX Cordless Cleaning System
Powered by interchangeable lithium-ion 18-volt batteries, the initial Hoover® Platinum Collection™
products available in Hoover stores and online in November 2008 and in retailers by Feb. 2009 are part
of the LiNX Cordless Cleaning System – a powerful hand vacuum and top-performing stick vacuum. As
with all the LiNX products, the lithium-ion battery supplies fade-free power until it is completely drained,
providing consistent vacuum suction from beginning to end of the cleaning cycle. The battery-powered
products are Energy Star Rated environmentally friendly appliances and free consumers from the hassle
and tangle of power cords, giving them versatility in choosing the right cleaning tool for the task at hand.
The Hoover® Platinum Collection™ Cordless Hand Vacuum offers two times longer run time than its
competition (per independent lab testing) through a combination of lithium-ion battery technology and
cyclonic action filtration. Designed to minimize stress on your hand and wrist, the hand vac provides
excellent detail cleaning with its integrated dust brush and crevice tool. The hand vac comes with one
18-volt lithium ion battery and a free-standing charger. Available at Hoover.com and Hoover stores in
November 2008 and at retail partners in February 2009, it has a suggested retail price of $129.99.
The first cordless stick vacuum with Hoover’s patented WindTunnel™ technology, the Hoover® Platinum
Collection™ Cordless Stick Vacuum offers cordless convenience with powerful upright performance.
The combination of WindTunnel technology and cyclonic filtration outperforms traditional corded uprights
in standardized tests (per ASTM F2607 on hard floors). Its intuitive design details – a wide mouth
opening for easy pick-up of cereal and pet food; low profile base with edge-hugging bristles and extreme
recline handle for easy access under furniture; and one-touch brush roll activation for transition from hard
floors to area rugs to carpet – provide a fast, easy way to clean and minimize the need for follow-up
cleaning with other tools. Available at Hoover.com and Hoover stores in November 2008 and at retail
partners in February 2009, it has a suggested retail price of $179.99.
Platinum Collection™ Lightweight Bagged Upright and Portable Canister (with tools)
The Hoover® Platinum Collection™ Lightweight Bagged Upright is the most powerful lightweight
vacuum in the marketplace, removing more dirt in one pass than other uprights. Its lightweight design
(only 11 lbs) provides easy maneuverability and transport up stairs with little effort. The upright includes
direct air flow technology and Hoover’s patented WindTunnel™ technology which utilizes three suction
tunnels to lift and remove even the hidden dirt (per ASTM F608). Edge cleaning channels with bristles
effectively clean the hard-to-reach areas around walls and molding.
A separate Portable Canister vacuum with tools is included with the Lightweight Bagged Upright. The
canister is designed with on-board tools including a 2-in-1 tool (dusting/furniture), a crevice tool and a
bare floor tool to simplify the transition between furniture, floors and drapes. A five-foot stretch hose and
telescoping wand eliminate excess stretching and bending while cleaning and provide easy access to
otherwise hard-to-reach places.
The two-part system allows for easy and efficient whole home cleaning of drapes, upholstery and
ceilings and will be available in December 2008 on Hoover.com and at Hoover stores and at additional
retail partners in February 2009 with a suggested retail price of $399.99.
Platinum Collection™ Bagless Upright
Featuring a combination of multi-stage cyclonic filtration system and Hoover’s patented WindTunnel™
technology, the Hoover® Platinum Collection™ Bagless Upright removes more dirt than any other
bagless vacuum on the market (per ASTM F608). It also has a best-in-class filtration system that allows
for more dirt to be sucked off the floor. The filter indicator turns red when it needs cleaned and an
automatic setting on the bagless upright also shuts off the brush roll feature when in the locked upright
position to make cleaning a worry-free process. The Platinum Collection Bagless Upright will be available
in February 2009 on Hoover.com, at Hoover stores and at retailers nationwide with a suggested retail
price of $449.99.
Platinum Collection™ Carpet Cleaner and Detergents
The Hoover® Platinum Collection™ Carpet Cleaner removes more dirt from carpet than any other
leading brand of carpet cleaner*. It combines for the first time Hoover’s patented Dual Scrub Technology
with SpinScrub brushes and a power groomer to provide 360 degree dirt removal and a professionally
cleaned finish. A computer-controlled system takes the guesswork out of carpet cleaning – scrubbing,
suction and detergent dispensing are optimized to your specified cleaning task.
For use in the Carpet Cleaner, the Hoover® Platinum Collection™ detergents and instant stain removers
help clean the toughest messes with ease. Each product offers superior cleaning performance targeted
at specific cleaning needs and is lightly scented to keep your home smelling the way you want it. The
Platinum Collection Carpet Cleaner will be available in February 2009 at Hoover.com, at Hoover stores
and at retailers nationwide with a suggested retail price of $399 - $449. The Platinum Collection
detergents and instant stain removers will be available in February 2009 as well at prices ranging from
$12.99 - $21.99.
